A few of us from Opus Group NW went to hear John Gottman share his new research on the art of a healthy relationship.  He is famous for the Love Lab that he and his team created in partnership with the UW.  With this lab he has tons of great science on what works.  His books are worth a read as they provide advice that is easy to apply to your relationship.  However, there were two nuggets I wanted to share as they are applicable to both personal and professional clients.   This burrowed wood wrapped in tangled wire has fascinated me for years.  I take photos of this scene as the seasons change and wonder why.  Today I saw what has been waiting to be revealed. Falling in Love: Lessons from a slug

There is something special about the moment just after a big rainfall.  Today’s moment was an encounter with slugs and when I say slugs I’m talking hundreds.  I was out exploring a new running path next to some wet lands.  My run quickly turned into a walking obstacle course as I dodged these little invertebrate beings.  Eventually, I settled into a rhythm as I slowed my pace and became enamored with the variety of colors, shapes and iridescent trails.   As my pace slowed I also became more aware of the people around me – their eyes, hair movement in the wind, musings...

Bush Whacking

Let me apologize now for the blurry image.  I was in the hands of an 8 year old and they operate at a whole different speed than we adults do. This photo was taken on a “hike” I went on with my sons. The hike started with me in the lead and quickly turned into a bush whacking adventure with me trailing my kids.  On this off-road excursion we encountered game trails, deer droppings, stinging nettles and juicy slugs.
